NYF / Alexdander Wang Spring 2013 RTW – the Greek spirit

“We wanted the garments to float on the girls, but not in an ethereal way,” Wang explained, “always keeping the structure.”

The combination between structure and basic color in boxy jacket, a shift dress, and the season’s already ubiquitous shorts—and leaving a slither of air between them, Wang has reminded me of the Greek ancient story , the spirit of Greek gods. Elegant in white as Athena – The goddess of wisdom, warfare, battle strategy, heroic endeavor and handicrafts. Platinum as Apollo – the god of light, truth and the sun. A skirt that flashed the leg beneath in between the bands create peaceful feeling as Demeter – he goddess of agriculture, horticulture, grain and harvest. Something of black leather collars and virtual “pockets” setting the power of women like Hades – King of the Underworld and god of the dead or in contrast of Selena – god of the moon wearing vanilla wide-cut dress shirt.
